How to Write a Business Plan You Will Actually Use
· Virgile Consulting, LLC
Many business plans are written once, sent to a bank and never opened again. A useful plan is different: it is a living guide that keeps your team focused and your decisions consistent.
Start with the essentials
- The problem and the customer — who you serve and why they need you.
- Your solution and advantage — what makes your offer different.
- The market — size, competitors and how you will reach customers.
- Operations — how the work gets done, by whom and with which tools.
- Financials — realistic revenue, costs and cash-flow projections.
Make it actionable
Turn each section into goals with owners and dates. Review the plan every quarter, compare results with projections and adjust. That habit is what turns a document into a strategy.
